Nash College of Further Education opened its new Community Learning Venue, “16”, on 16 July 2013.
The launch event was attended by the Mayor of Bromley Cllr. Ernest Noad who officially opened the venue on the day.
The new resource, which includes café style learning and meeting spaces, will provide work experience and learning opportunities for the Nash College students, all of whom have severe learning disabilities.
The college hopes “16” will develop into a thriving base for community participation so that students at the college can learn to be active within their communities. The college is keen to work in partnership with other community groups.
Based at 16 Kingsway, Coney Hall, West Wickham, Kent, BR4 9JF, the venue was previously a disused café. Nash College was keen to give the empty shop a new lease of life. The students have already used the venue to run coffee mornings for other charities, including Macmillan.
Nash College of Further Education caters for young people with disabilities and is run by national disability charity Livability. It is based at Croydon Road, Hayes, Bromley, BR2 7AG.
