Victoria turns to fancy dress for sports day

July 18 2012

Victoria Education Centre held their annual sports day on Wednesday 18th July 2012. Parents, teachers and students all took part, as nine teams battled to win fancy dress competitions and various outside sporting events.

width=Every year, a theme is set for the fancy dress, and this year it was the London 2012 Olympic Games. Each team was given an Olympic venue to represent, for example Wimbledon, Wembley, Greenwich Park, the Olympic stadium, and the London Velodrome. They dressed up accordingly, with the Wembley team decked out as footballers, the Wimbledon team transforming into tennis players, and so on and so forth.

All the teams then took part in a parade, giving everyone an excuse to dance, sing and show off their costumes. A three-strong judging panel gave each team a rating on their fancy dress, and overall, the equestrian team came out on top.

After the parade, things moved outside to the sports playground, where the teams competed in a number of fun and challenging sporting events. Once again, scores were kept, and afterwards an awards ceremony was held, with plenty of medals and prizes handed out to help remember a great day.
