Mental health tips when fundraising

February 23 2024

Look after your own mental health while you’re fundraising with these handy tips. These strategies will help you manage stress, maintain balance, and enhance your overall wellbeing. By prioritising your mental health, you can stay focused, energised, and more effective in achieving your fundraising goals.

Tips for fundraising

Take notice of your environment

Take a moment to pause and breathe. Make a conscious effort to appreciate the world around you and take time out so your fundraising doesn’t seem overwhelming. This practice of mindfulness and gratitude not only refreshes our spirits but also provides perspective, making our challenges more manageable.

Give to others

You’re already doing this one, so take time to reflect on the lasting difference you’re making. The act of giving can boost our mental and emotional well-being, as it brings joy, fulfilment, and a deep sense of satisfaction in making a positive impact. Moreover, it creates ripples that extend far beyond the initial act. Through giving, we not only help others but also cultivate our own growth, resilience, and happiness.

Connect with those closest to you

Connect with those closest to you; those who might be willing to get involved, help out and keep us motivated in our task. You can also contact Livability if you need any help. We are happy to provide advice and guidance for those fundraising to help you make your fundraising journey easier.

Stay active through physical activities

Clear your head with a walk, run, cycle or swim – solo or with friends. Whatever your choice may be, physical activity helps to promote better sleep, aids in managing stress, and can reduce feelings of anxiety.

You can also make this part of your training if your fundraising involves a physical challenge, such as a marathon.

Fundraising is a great way to try new things and to discover talents you didn’t know you had.
