The team at Livability Anvil House supports seven adults, all of whom have learning disabilities and a range of complex health and communication needs. Despite the challenges of their work, every member of staff is dedicated to providing a high level of care, placing the person at the heart of everything they do and plan. The team have recently been celebrated for their efforts at Livability’s Princess Royal Awards for staff and volunteers.

‘The work they do at the service is exemplary,’ says Angela Crooks, Livability’s Quality and Practice Development Manager. ‘The whole team works extremely hard to support the people living at the service to be as independent as possible. The people living there enjoy a ‘real life’ both within the home and out in the local community. They are really fortunate to have such wonderful staff.’

Anvil House offers individualised support to all the residents

Service Manager Jacqui Pumfrett and her team offer this individualised support to all the residents at Livability Anvil House and are encouraged to participate in a range of day-to-day tasks which are continually assessed. This ensures that everyone is able develop core skills and be fully involved in all aspects of their lives.

‘Jacqui and her staff are always focused on the ‘whole’ person,’ says Angela. ‘They create daily schedules for residents, based on each individual’s own interests and preferences. Once targets are achieved, new goals are set so that each person is continues to grow their skills.’

This commitment and incredible work of the staff at Livability Anvil House was officially recognised last year when the service received an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating in the category of service responsiveness.

‘Achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating for any service is extremely difficult,’ Angela explained. ‘This considerable achievement is testament to the incredible work and commitment of all the staff at the home.’
