Talented artist and service user shares her artwork in Livabilty’s latest appeal

Livability Brookside is a residential facility in Edgware.

June is a service user at one of Livability’s residential home for disabled people – Livability Brookside House. June first came to live at Brookside, when she was a tiny baby. Abandoned at birth, June suffered from severe asthma as a young girl and was never able to attend school.

Despite her poor health – which meant she spent much of the time inside – June has always loved nature. Her love of plants and flowers led her to create beautiful artificial blooms for flowers shows and displays.

The team at Livability Brookside wants to enable June to access the garden as much as possible and support her interest in art. The centre is therefore working to upgrade lift facilities and maximise their accessibility, so that June – and the Brookside community of service users – can use the lift unsupported.[/cs_text][x_callout title=”Support the appeal for Brookside House” message=”Livability’s appeal for Brookside House will focus on upgrading lift accessibility. How will the appeal help June?

In recent years, lift technology for disabled people has massively developed. With motion activated sensors and wider access space, disabled users can operate lifts without assistance. We want to provide this at Brookside, where the current lift is very out of date.

That’s why Livability has launched this appeal, to raise funds to install a better lift technology at Brookside. Through the funding it raises, June and fellow residents will have better use of the garden and be able to grow and paint their own flowers.[/cs_text][x_blockquote cite=”June” type=”left”]’It would be good to watch things come to life, to be able to say, “Oh, look, there’s something growing!”‘[/x_blockquote][cs_text id=” class=” style=” text_align=”left-text”]

June shares her artwork

June is the focus of Livability’s spring appeal. Her artwork has been featured as part of the information supporting this important fundraising need.

June and other residents love the idea that they may have a garden they can grow themselves and then paint.
