This fabric postcard has a background of cotton patchwork columns, quilted with free machining. Appliquéd petals surround the centres of French knots with a bee waiting to alight. It is stiffened with pelmet vilene sewn on with machined satin stitch.
Tricia’s mother was a talented needlewoman and encouraged Tricia to experiment and create all types of sewing. Consequently, Tricia has always sewn, trying lots of techniques.
On retirement, she enrolled for the City and Guilds course, Creative Embroidery. At the end of the four years of design, experimentation and manipulation, it was free machine embroidery that enthused her the most with hand embroidery used to embellish.
Tricia also enjoys gardening and always strives to have her garden full of colour. She uses flowers often as a focus so this ‘Bee friendly ‘ theme was a pleasure to sew.
