Andrew is head of leadership programmes for the BBC. He’s responsible for the professional development of more than 2000 BBC leaders across the world, from those stepping into management roles for the first time, to the Executive Board. Previously, Andrew designed and delivered intensive learning programmes for every newly-appointed journalist and editor across BBC Journalism – the biggest project of its kind in the world. On behalf of the BBC Academy, Andrew has delivered commercial training for media leaders across the world. After completing a law degree at Cambridge University, Andrew started out as a radio presenter, reporter and producer. Before moving into leadership development, he was head of the BBC West region, based in Bristol.

Andrew has a track record in setting up and running strategic projects and in motivating and developing diverse teams. Outside the BBC he spent two years as chairman of the Somerset Standards Board (five years as a member) and served for three years as a director of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

His hobbies include music (Andrew has been a church organist from the age of 12), runner (19 half marathons) and football (season ticket holder at Bristol City).
