Why your running really adds up

With the London Marathon happening this April, we’re so proud to have a team of dedicated runners in support of Livability. Over the past weeks and months, you’ve inspired our charity community so much with your dedication, hours and miles of training and commitment to the cause.

With such a huge distance ahead of you, you might be feeling a little daunted at the prospect of what you have signed up to! So we thought we’d remind you of just some of the ways in which the money you and your supporters raise can help to make such a difference to the lives of the people we support.

Our supporters – together and with you

Livability’s supporters are at the heart of our work. Together and with you, we can tackle barriers in community life that cause disabled and vulnerable people to become socially isoalted.

Your run on Sunday will make it more possible to deliver our care services, help connect people with their communities and work for a more inclusive society.

Every step you run, every mile you cover, every landmark you pass on the course – it all adds up. Here’s how.

Growing wellbeing together

With your support,  Livability can provide wellbeing programmes, such as  Flourish – a horticultural therapy project at our Dorset Wellbeing Discovery Centre – Livability Holton Lee. Here – the services helps people learn new skills, grow confidence and make friends.

Supporting people recovering from brain injury

With your support, Livability is able to provide essential rehabilitation to people that are recovering from brain injury, through our specialist brain injury rehabilitation centre, Livability Icanho.

Helping young people learn and thrive

With your support, Livability helps the learning, education and vocational opportunities for disabled young people, who attend our school and further education college.

Providing people focused care

With your support, Livability delivers vital community activities at our care homes, which enhance people’s lives and create important connections for the people that use our services.

Being Dementia Inclusive through churches

With your support, we are able to train and resource churches to be more inclusive and accessible for people living with dementia.

Community connections tackle barriers

All these things and more add up to better, more livable lives and communities. Research shows that when people enjoy good community connections, their health, life outcomes and wellbeing are far stronger.

Thank you for making such a difference. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.
