On Sunday 24 April 2016, the city of London held its 36th Virgin Money London Marathon. 12 runners raising awareness for Livability joined over 39,000 others in the 26.2 mile challenge.
Over £27,000 was raised for Livability by the generosity of family, friends and supporters of Team Livability runners.

Lucy Lucas-Rowe was running for her son who attended Nash College – a further education college for young disabled people, run by Livability.
“I have witnessed the wonderful work of Hugo’s school and wanted to repay them in some way for the support they gave him.”
Paul Goodman, who works close to Victoria Education Centre, a special needs school run by Livability in Poole said:
“I was given the opportunity to visit so I have been able to see first-hand the great work the charity does. I’m not exaggerating when I say I was bowled over by the enthusiasm of the staff and the happiness of the students.”
Paul Becerra from Morgan Lovell – an interior design, got out and refurbishment specialist – worked with Livability on its new National Office last year. After being inspired by the charity’s work, he decided to take on the challenge of a lifetime.
“So when I heard that there were spaces to run on behalf of Livability, I decided to go the extra mile (or so) by volunteering to run, and here I am at 58, living that very dream.”
In a record-breaking year, the London Marathon saw its one millionth finisher complete the 26.2 miles this year.
British astronaut Tim Peake recorded a message for the runners before counting down to the race start. He is also the first person to take part in a marathon from the International Space Station where using a treadmill.
