Welcome to 2017 everyone! We can’t wait to get underway this year in sharing inspiring stories from our charity about how people are connecting with their community. In our first article of the year, we take a moment to read some of our highlights from the year that’s gone and look forward to all that lies ahead.
Churches don’t have to have expert knowledge to be important places of welcome and understanding for people living with dementia. This year, Livability partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society to launch guidelines for creating a dementia-friendly church.
Students at Victoria Education Centre great at sharing issues affecting disabled young people. One student was invited to speak to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge about her passionate concern for young people’s mental health.

Learning disability charity Prospects has joined Livability, combining strengths and expertise to deliver a broader portfolio of commissioned care, church and community work focused on helping churches to welcome people with learning disabilities into the church community
Sharing our story with others is part of how we build community together. But what if you face challenges with communication? Livability believes everyone’s story is valuable and worth taking the time to listen to. That’s why we started to run a number of ‘Share Your Story’ workshops, to provide another route for the people we support to share their experiences with the charity.
After 20 years Livability opened a national office that is accessible for everyone. Staff member Jess Long expressed what a difference this makes to her working life.
