The countdown has commenced for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon – one of the world’s most celebrated and iconic of marathons. A day that draws more than 50,000 people together, to wheel, run or walk their way around this famous route.
Whether it’s running to achieve a personal best, for the joy of it; or for a cause – the London Marathon is a day of diversity, challenge, achievement and fun.
Every year, Livability is pleased to enjoy the support of amazing people that choose to run and raise funds and awareness for our charity.
As a Golden Bond holder for the Virgin Money London Marathon, we have a record number of people running for the charity this year.
We’re proud to see 160 people donning their ‘It all adds up T-shirt’ to run 26.2 miles around the course and we’ll be cheering them all the way.
Each person has been arduously training and preparing for the momentous day. Through our Team Livability marathon Facebook page and on Twitter, our runners have been sharing their motivations, experiences, and the highs (and lows!) of their training journey.
From the team that are travelling all the way from Brazil to run with Livability; the woman who will be running the marathon in celebration and honour of her late husband; the journalist that blames his son Barney for having to run it in the first place, or our very own Livability champion, Peter Thompson – who will be running the London Marathon this year before his Tour de France challenge; the stories are rich and truly inspirational.
And none of these stories would be possible without the amazing support that each runner’s community of friends, family and local communities have given to their fundraising. Every day, we are seeing countless examples of how when people bring their strengths together – it really does all add up!
If you are making your way to London on the 22 April 2018, come and join us in cheering our runners on. The day plays a vital part in raising funds and profile for supporting disabled and vulnerable people at risk of social isolation. Every step run, pound given and runners name cheered on (from the top of your voice!) – it all adds up.
