Join the One Million Steps Challenge which is encouraging people to walk one million steps, over 500 miles in 100 days. The challenge starts on 1 January 2021, and, what better way to shake off the cobwebs, get fit, start the New Year and lift our spirits by getting out.
Walking is great for our physical and mental health. But we tell ourselves we can’t find the time, we’re tired, we’ll start tomorrow. But, big things can happen from very small beginnings. Walk, jog, run or even dance your way to a million steps. It all adds up to an awesome 500 miles! Challenge yourself, compete with friends, and even raise money for a good cause. No more travelling to events, overnight stays, worries about training, expensive entry costs or high fundraising targets.
If you want to do the challenge with a community, join the Facebook challenge group and to get tips, inspiration and motivation.
The coronavirus pandemic has changed life for everyone, but people with disabilities are among the hardest hit, at higher risk of severe illness from coronavirus due to a range of complex disabilities. Livability is on the frontline – providing care, nursing and support for those who need it most during this crisis. Right now, Livability is helping to both protect and connect our front-line staff and the people we support across our residential services, education centres, rehabilitation work and wellbeing programmes. When you raise money for the One Million Steps challenge, the funds raised will help Livability keep people with disabilities alive, well and thriving through and beyond this pandemic.
