We in the Livability community love a party and we’re very excited to be making plans to celebrate The Big Jubilee Lunch, in honour of our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

We’ll be joining in the fun as people around the UK find fun ways to celebrate this special extended Bank Holiday weekend, from June 2-5.

By hosting The Big Jubilee Lunch at our services, we’re sharing in The Big Lunch annual celebration, to encourage people to overcome anxiety and loneliness, get sociable and get to know each other better.

Hosting a Big Jubilee Lunch is the perfect opportunity this year to get together with family, friends and neighbours to celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

What is Livability doing?

Livability services are celebrating together in hubs and the aim is for all services to take part, with big or small celebrations, at a service or in the community.

Celebrations can take place any time over the Platinum Jubilee weekend – 2-5 June – and you’re not limited to a lunch. Alternatives are a coffee morning, a barbeque with neighbours, 70’s themed quiz, tea-dance in your community hall or full-on street party!

Why is Livability joining in?

The Big Jubilee Lunch supports our work in several ways:

• It’s a great opportunity for people we support to rediscover their community, especially for those who have been under tight restrictions due to health concerns. It can help people overcome anxiety about meeting others which may have built up over the pandemic months, and enjoy socialising again.
• We can take time to thank all those in our community who have supported a Livability service during the challenging pandemic years.
• Services can invite local volunteers, businesses and community organisations; the families of people we support; churches and clubs, for friendship, understanding and skills sharing.
• Celebrating together will build relationships in geographical hubs that relate to our services. This is a key part of the charity’s strategy: to strengthen local bonds and make the most of what communities can offer to Livability and vice versa.
• It’s an opportunity to raise our profile and fundraise as a national charity and as individual, local services.
