'Cradle' by Kathryn Da Costa

About the artwork

I wanted to symbolise the opportunity of ‘staying home’ and how I have had time to reflect and nurture myself, family and house-plants. I like to use fluid, material and comforting shapes. Using watercolour on a printed background shows transparency, giving layers and depth to my image. The leaves are ‘flourishing’ to show how they are moving on.

About the artist

Kathy enjoys creating work in many mediums, including collage, watercolour and pencil work. This reflects her experience in natural history illustration and fine art, a component in her art therapies education. Kathy has continued to create alongside a career in social care and support.
