Football fan Ben is a keen runner and enjoys being active. Ben shares why he’s taking part in the 10km Parallel London race on 4th September – one of the challenges at the first ever mass participation fun push/run.
“My dad Paul, my brothers Dominic and Peter and my sister Frances all run for fun,” says Ben. “I enjoy running with them although they are all faster than me. My mum Janet follows me on her bike when we do a long training run.”
“I also run on Tuesday’s with Wellingborough and District Athletics Club – the people are really supportive of me and I enjoy going out with them.
Running isn’t Ben’s only passion – he is a massive supporter of football and enjoys going to matches, at which Livability’s East Midlands community support service sometimes accompany him.
“I like where we live because it is easy to get to the football stadium because I love football. I am a massive supporter of Northampton Town Football Club – nicknamed ‘The Cobblers’ – and I attend every home match and some of the away games too.
“I’ll be running with my dad who is very supportive” – Ben DeBoo
“I enjoy running and take part in various events, but it is great that Parallel London is bringing together everybody in one race, regardless of ability. I’ll be running with my dad who is very supportive.”
“This seemed a great opportunity to actually run at the Olympic Park whilst raising money for Livability. I’d also like to help raise greater awareness of their work in the hope that they will support more people like me.
“For anyone thinking of taking part I would say, just give it a go! I am sure the crowds will be cheering for you no matter how far you run or what your ability may be.
Livability was a proud platinum partner of Parallel London – the world’s first fully inclusive fun push/run help at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.
