This is football
Jeffrey lives at Livability Beaumont Court – a residential home in Northumberland run by Livability – and is an avid fan of Newcastle United Football Club. With help from the the staff team at the home, Jeffery had the chance to watch them play their last game of the season and be crowned champions of the English Football League (EFL).
For a long time Jeffrey wanted to watch Newcastle United play live. Watching your favourite football team on the television is great, but you don’t get to feel the atmosphere from the crowd or the emotions of seeing a goal scored right in front of you.
About a year ago the Livability Beaumont Court team supported Jeffrey in becoming an offical member of Newcasle United’s fan club and has since been attending most of their home matches at St. James’ Park stadium.
‘When we attended a stadium tour of St James’ Park we knew the tickets for the last match of the season were going on sale and Jeffrey had expressed his interest in attending,’ said Michelle Wildey – service manager at Livability Beaumont Court.
The staff ensured they secured the tickets for the match and – even though Newcastle United already knew they were EFL champions – Jeffrey was able to witness the players lift the trophy after beating their competition by 3-0.
Michelle confirms: ‘through his love of football and attending matches at St. James’ Park, Jeffrey has become more confident and is enjoying being involved in the local community.’
