Special guests, Vice Presidents, Trustees and donors of Livability attended a special Christmas carol service at Tower of London last night. The Reverend Canon Roger Hall MBE (Chaplain, HM Tower of London) hosted the evening which was a celebration of community at Christmas.
Guests joined for a candle lit service, featuring the Choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London. Readings were given and the congregation was invited to think about their own response to the gifts of hope, justice and compassion brought to all in the birth of Christ in Bethlehem.
Readings were given by a variety of Livability friends, including actor Julian Sands who recited ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ to the congregation. Speaking of the charity, Julian said:
‘Livability is a charity that is passionate about ensuring disabled and disadvantaged people have full and flourishing lives, pursuing all that their community has to offer. It was a privilege to attend this wonderful concert and I wish the charity well with its work in 2016.’
Julian Sands recited ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’
Adam Bonner, Director of Community Engagement and Communications, lead prayers and reflection to conclude the service.
‘Livability is a rich and vibrant community – and our work is greatly enhanced by a variety of inspiring partners; staff, donors, volunteers, friends and trustees. Our Tower of London service is an important occasion for us, at which we celebrate the gift of God’s unconditional love through the birth of Christ. We again deeply value the chance to say thank you to a number of key supporters and special friends of the charity in this incredible location.
‘In 2016, Livability will be exploring bold and ambitions plans to make community livable for the people we support. We’ll be developing new services and projects that help people tackle barriers in their lives and connect more with their community. Tonight’s service was a wonderful opportunity to give thanks for 2015 and share the hope and excitement we have for next year.’
The Tower of London was the first of a series of Livability Christmas events. If you want to hear more about the work of Livability and celebrate Christmas we invite you to join our annual Christmas Carol concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields on the Tuesday 8 December.
