Victoria Education Centre and Sports College officially opened a new specially adapted playground and a series of new classrooms on Monday 7 February 2011. Television personality Esther Rantzen attended the event as guest of honour.
Victoria, based in Poole, Dorset, is a leading day and residential school and sports college offering specialised, high-quality education, care, therapy and sport for young people with disabilities from 4 to 19 years. The college is run by disability charity Livability.
The new playground allows students of all ages to use specially adapted swings and roundabouts and enjoys hours of fun and play. In addition the college is opening a new art room, classroom, and food technology room. All the new rooms open into the playground.
The event was also an opportunity to further publicise the schools current Sparkle appeal which aims to raise £2.8m for a new state of the art hydrotherapy pool.
Chris Davies, Victoria Education Centre and Sports College principal said,”We are really excited to open this new playground. Victoria school is a very special place and we are always striving to enhance our facilities so we can deliver the best education and care for our students.”
