Covid-19 has made this year tough for us all, but it’s had a devastating impact on people with disabilities. People with disabilities in our care are still extremely vulnerable to the virus and may develop complications if they are infected this winter. In fact, recent research has shown 6 in every 10 deaths involving Covid were amongst people with disabilities*. We must and will continue to keep those we care for safe and happy throughout the colder winter months to come.
We are so proud of our teams of carers, who have worked incredibly hard to keep the people we care for safe, well and connected to their loved ones.
To mark Giving Tuesday on 1 December, 2020 Livability’s fundraising team and Chief Executive, Sally Chivers, made a concerted effort to contact some of our incredible supporters by phone and email to say those all too important two words, ‘thank you’.
Mark Docherty, Head of Individual Giving said:
‘We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support we have received throughout this year and in response to our emergency appeal. The support we received has enabled us to provide vital PPE to our services, and purchase technology such as tablets that have enabled the people we support to keep in contact with friends and family via zoom during the pandemic.
As I’m sure you can imagine, 2020 has been a challenging year for all our services, but our Star Carers have done an incredible job enabling the people we support to live with choice and independence throughout the pandemic. However, we couldn’t have achieved all this without the generosity of our supporters. And for that we are truly grateful. On behalf of all the Livability team, once again, Thank you.’
Thank you
