Livability presented the manager of the Old Street Holiday Inn Express Hotel, Craig Penry, with an ‘’Open Doors Award’’ certificate on Thursday 11th July 2013 for the outstanding quality of service and accessibility the premises offer to disabled guests.
The charity created its ’’Open Doors Awards’’ certificates to highlight the high street outlets, businesses or other service providers that offer excellent standards of customer service and support to disabled people in the UK.
Previous recipients of the certificates include branches of Natwest, the Body Shop, HMV, John Lewis as well as Poole Hospital and many independent local cafes and restaurants.
Wheelchair user Kayleigh Walters who works for Livability in Plymouth and who handed out the certificate says: “I use the Old Street Holiday Inn Express all the time when I come to Livability’s head office in London. The rooms and the hotel itself are very accessible and comfortable. The way the bathrooms are laid out mean that I can use the shower and other facilities without the help of a carer which allows me to be more independent and to have more privacy.
All the Holiday Inn Express hotel rooms I have stayed in across the country have been equally accessible. The staff is also very friendly and always make my stay a really fun and pleasant experience. I am really pleased to be able to award them this certificate to show how much I appreciate their facilities.”
