Government launch The Accessible Britain Challenge

The UK Government have officially launched the Accessible Britain Challenge which aims to remove barriers that prevent disabled people from fully participating in their local communities.

The main aim of the Accessible Britain Challenge is to motivate local communities to ‘be more inclusive and accessible for disabled people.’ In doing this they aim to:

  • Encourage a change in attitudes and behaviours towards disabled people
  • Show local businesses the potential benefits of engaging with disabled people as employees and customers
  • Encourage collaboration between disabled people and local organisations including local businesses, employers and service providers.

The Department for Work and Pensions has provided a toolkit to aid communities in accommodating disabled people more fully. Click HERE to view the full toolkit.  You can also click HERE to read the full Accessible Britain guide.
