Cuts to legal aid to affect many disabled people

Livability has signed up to support a campaigning initiative by Justice for All highlighting the negative impact that planned cuts to legal aid will have on disabled people.

Justice for All has produced a briefing document that sets out how changes to legal aid will deny vital legal advice to 78,000 disabled people each year.

Removing welfare benefits advice from the scope of legal aid at the same time as the welfare system undergoes radical reforms will leave people with nowhere to turn for help.

The Legal Aid Bill is in committee stage in the Commons and the Welfare Reform Bill is currently in the Lords, so the next few weeks are critical.

The briefing document will be distributed to MPs and Peers to gather support for the campaign.
