French fundraising bike challenge

Brave Hertfordshire fundraiser completes French bike challenge for disability charity

Brave fundraiser Simon Kerr from Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, successfully completed his epic London-Paris charity cycle on Saturday 26 June in the afternoon, after a journey of 300 miles through Kent, Nord Pas de Calais and Picardie.

His bike challenge has helped him raise £2,665 to date for national disability charity Livability which campaigns for the rights of people with disabilities and help them live independent and fulfilling lives.

The ride was a tremendous experience for Simon who cycled alongside a team of 5 other colleagues. The determined group of fundraisers raised a total of nearly £16,000 for their respective charities.

Simon cycled in temperatures of over 30oC most days and climbed over 7,000 feet through the hilly parts of Kent and Northern France. He is very proud of his average speed of 14 mph in these tough circumstances.

Simon is especially keen to raise awareness of and support the work done by Livability at its Nettleswell Rectory centre in Harlow, a local project that provides residential care and support for 9 people with disabilities aged between 32 to 65 years old.

Simon says: I am delighted to have been able to complete this challenge and to be able to support the tremendous work of Livability. The charity runs amazing projects such as the Nettleswell Rectory centre in Harlow which makes a world of difference to the lives of people with disabilities.

Anyone wanting to make a donation to Livability can do so securely online by visiting wwww.livability.org.uk or by sending a cheque to Livability, 50 Scrutton Street, London EC2A 4XQ.
