Living at Hinwick

Accommodation & FoodHinwick Student eating
We love to see students develop their skills. We  encourage them to take as much control of their life as they can. The support we offer is flexible, so it changes as students grow. Staff monitor students confidence and skill levels closely.

A great example of this flexibility is our student accommodation. Based on campus, we have a range of options which offer different levels of independence. Some students live in fully supported accommodation. Others live as a group in a flat or cottage, giving them the chance to develop their life skills in a more independent setting.
And our independence training flats allow others to practice an even higher level of control and independence. Based in our refurbished stable mews, these are one-person flats with their own bathroom and mini-kitchen. As students develop their life skills, they are able to move from one type to another, while remaining on campus close to friends and all facilities.

Students can choose to eat in the main college dining room or in their own accommodation. We provide three healthy meals a day, catering for a huge range of dietary needs and requirements as well as tastes. Where appropriate, we encourage students to cook for themselves.

The campus is a beautiful place, with picturesque grounds surrounding the Grade II listed hall. Accessible gardens are filled with scented plants. Next door to the college, our horticultural centre not only supplies plants for the gardens, but also offers work experience to students.

Friend laughingSocial life
After lessons, theres plenty to get involved in at Hinwick. We encourage students to develop hobbies and get involved in their local community. The range of weekend and evening activities includes sports, creative and performing arts, church activities and social events.

Regular organised shopping trips, using the colleges vehicles, are made to local towns, whilst students who are able are encouraged to plan and organise their own outings using taxis.
